The Joy Set Before Him

The Joy Set Before Him

Reading: Hebrews 12:2

Devotional: Jesus endured the cross "for the joy set before Him." That joy wasn't the torture or humiliation—it was you. You were His reward for suffering. This wasn't emotional happiness but virtuous joy—a response that transcended His circumstances. He counted you worth the pain. This is the fruit of the Spirit in action: when your reaction doesn't match your circumstances because something greater lives within you. Paul and Silas sang in prison. Jesus forgave from the cross. Stephen prayed for his murderers. Their joy wasn't circumstantial; it was rooted in kingdom reality. Today, whatever you face, remember: you are Christ's great reward. Let that truth produce joy that circumstances cannot touch. Count it joy to suffer for His kingdom.
