Religion vs. Relationship
Reading: Mark 3:1-6; Luke 13:10-17; Matthew 23:23-28
Devotional: The religious leaders of Jesus' day were so bound by legalism that they missed God standing right in front of them. They witnessed miraculous healings and responded with anger instead of worship. They valued their traditions more than people's transformation. Religion focuses on rules; relationship focuses on redemption. Religion produces pride; relationship produces humility. Religion condemns; relationship restores. Jesus didn't come to establish another religious system—He came to restore relationship between God and humanity. Examine your own heart today: Are you more concerned with appearing righteous or becoming righteous? Do you love the law more than the Lawgiver? Choose relationship over religion, grace over legalism, and love over judgment.
