The Reality of Choice
Reading: Luke 16:19-31; Romans 1:18-25
Devotional: The parable of the rich man and Lazarus reveals a sobering truth: our eternal destiny is determined by the choices we make in this life. Some will choose to believe a lie rather than accept God's truth. The rich man wanted someone to return from the dead to warn his brothers, but Abraham said if they won't believe Moses and the prophets, they won't believe even if someone rises from the dead. This was proved true when Jesus rose—many still refused to believe. God's grace is freely offered, but it must be willfully received. We cannot force salvation on anyone. Today, pray for those who resist the truth, but invest your energy in discipling those who are receptive to God's Word.
