Anger Without Sin

Anger Without Sin

Reading: Ephesians 4:26-27; James 1:19-20

Devotional: "Be angry and do not sin" seems contradictory until we understand righteous anger versus selfish rage. The sermon illustrated this powerfully: when a child is harmed, righteous anger seeks systemic change—better lighting, cameras, protection—not merely vengeance against one perpetrator. Righteous anger addresses root causes; sinful anger seeks personal satisfaction. Like pain alerts us to physical injury, anger can signal that something needs addressing. The key is our response. Do we lash out in the flesh, or do we channel that energy toward godly resolution? Don't let the sun go down on your anger—deal with issues promptly, biblically, and with kingdom perspective. Today, if you're harboring anger, ask: Am I seeking justice or revenge? Am I addressing the problem or just venting my flesh?
