The Egotistical Squirrel

The Egotistical Squirrel

You can learn a lot from observing nature. One morning I watched squirrels in the yard retrieving their stash from various places. I noticed that some were smarter than others. Some were more immature, and some were more physically capable. They communicate, and I realize that some are superior to others. Even in their little communities, there is going to be some egotistical varmint that thinks he has it all figured out. That’s probably the one you see in the middle of the road. What if you took one of the squirrels and domesticated it? Showed it a different place to eat, a different place to drink, a different place to sleep, and taught it something that it wouldn’t learn in the front yard. Suddenly it has a new direction. It is led by the wisdom of something greater than it is. It’s still a squirrel, but now its life is different. It now has a different knowledge than the other squirrels, yet it is still one of them. I’m not saying that we are animals or God’s pets. We are God’s children. I’m saying that the difference in understanding between man and animal is tremendous. The gap in knowledge between God and man is infinite. We don’t have the capacity to see the eternal picture. (Hab 2:4 But the just shall live by his faith). Living by faith is trusting God, whether you understand it or not. (1Co 13:12, For now, we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face; now I know in part, but then I will know fully just as I also have been fully known.) Once you submit to the wisdom of God, everything changes. He can open doors and provide opportunities you could never find alone. He can give you a new direction that you are incapable of seeing. He is not in some distant place sitting on a distant star, unable to hear or help you. He is right here. He is everywhere and in every detail. The Holy Spirit lives here with us; if you only believe, you will discover a new and better way to live. Ro 8:14 For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. God has the answer if you are tired of trying to figure it out on your own. I’ve had failure after failure that belongs to me, but I’ve had success after success that belongs to Him. Isa 55:8 “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways,” declares the LORD. “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts higher than your thoughts. Pr 3:5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; 6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.

Be blessed and be BOLD,
