Change of Plans
Jeremiah 18 is the message of the potter and the clay. God tells Jeremiah (v2 Arise and go down to the potter’s house and there I will announce My words to you). The potter is making something intentionally, and it turns out that the clay is spoiled in the process, and the potter begins to reshape it into something pleasing to him. Then the Word of the Lord comes for Isreal. (Jeremiah 18:5–10 (NKJV) 5 Then the word of the Lord came to me, saying: 6 “O house of Israel, can I not do with you as this potter?” says the Lord. “Look, as the clay is in the potter’s hand, so are you in My hand, O house of Israel! 7 The instant I speak concerning a nation and concerning a kingdom, to pluck up, to pull down, and to destroy it, 8 if that nation against whom I have spoken turns from its evil, I will relent of the disaster that I thought to bring upon it. 9 And the instant I speak concerning a nation and concerning a kingdom, to build and to plant it, 10 if it does evil in My sight so that it does not obey My voice, then I will relent concerning the good with which I said I would benefit it). God has a plan for us, and He never changes, but we do. Just because you believe in the promises of God doesn’t mean that you will always walk in them. Our decisions and actions impact our future and our families. Through the Lord Jesus, we are in a better covenant than Israel, but we are still responsible for staying on the straight and narrow. (Matthew 7:13 (NKJV) 13 “Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it). Are your decision based on God’s will or your own? Our choices need to be scripturally based. The flesh wants what it wants, sometimes, you have to tell it no. On the other side of judgment is redemption and through repentance, God can restore the years the locust have eaten (Joel 2:25). (Jeremiah 29:11 (NKJV) For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope). The extraordinary move of God that the church is waiting on will not be because God decided to move now in this city or that city; it will be because the children of God cry out in repentance and say I surrender all. (Matthew 10:39 (NKJV) He who finds his life will lose it, and he who loses his life for My sake will find it).
Be blessed and be BOLD,
