“Rise up and walk.”
(Acts 3:6 Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk.) What did Peter have, and where did it come from? It was nothing tangible. It was nothing that he could physically give to someone, and yet he still had something to give. Peter denied Jesus three times just after he said that he would die before he would deny Him (Mt 26:35). But on the day of Pentecost (Ac 2:2 suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a mighty rushing wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting), Peter was baptized with the Holy Spirit. He went out into the streets and preached boldly despite any consequences, and three thousand people were saved. John the Baptist even prophesied this power in Mt 3:11 “I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance, but He who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire. Just before Jesus ascended into Heaven, he said in Acts 1:8, “But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you.” What Peter had was the power of the Holy Spirit. Power beyond the natural. A power that passes from the spiritual world to the physical one. The word power in Greek is dunamis. It means; force, miraculous power, ability, abundance, meaning, might, (worker of) miracles, strength, violence, and mighty (wonderful) work. Freely he had been given, and freely he gave in the form of a miracle, “Rise up and walk.” The prophecy of the outpouring of the Holy Spirit is in (Joel 2:28 ¶, And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions). Did you notice that it says all flesh and not just the Apostles? Heb 13:8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. The baptism of the Holy Spirit and fire was for them on Pentecost, and that same baptism of fire and power is for us today. The Promise will come, but you can’t get it, you can’t achieve it, and you cant buy it. A gift is something you receive. Seek God with a pure heart. Study, fast, pray, and live a holy life acceptable to the Father and receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth.
