Good Friday

Good Friday,

Good Friday or Holy Friday is when Jesus paid the ultimate price for our sins and died in our place so that we may have eternal life. Today is a day of remembrance. During the last Supper in (Luke 22:19), Jesus said, "do it in remembrance of Me." Never forget that He took your place and mine. Never forget that by His stripes, you were healed (1Pt 2:24). Many Christians Today celebrate Good Friday in fasting and penance. There is nothing wrong with fasting if done with the right motive. Fasting is a disciple of the body. It tells your flesh that it's not in control; your spirit is. (Ga 5:16 I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. NKJV). Fasting will help build your faith and belief and help you focus on things spiritually instead of on the lusts of your flesh.
Penance, on the other hand, is religious and useless. Penance, by definition, is "voluntary self-punishment inflicted as an outward expression of repentance for having done wrong." This is a stronghold that many need to be delivered from. Jesus does not need our help paying the price for our sins. He paid that price so much that in (Ro 8:1 Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. NASB95). Today is a day of remembrance and gratitude. Our God did for us what we could not do on our own. My name is written in the Lambs Book of Life because I was sentenced to death, and Jesus took my place on the cross. I am so grateful that I would not disgrace it with self-inflicted punishment. Instead, I will rejoice with a happy heart and lift the wonderful name of Jesus.

Be blessed and be BOLD,
Pastor Charlie
