Preventive Medicine

Bread of Life

I have no problem praying for the sick (Mr 16:18, they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover).  But after my sister got ill and needed surgery, I began to question why it has to get to the point where we need a miracle.  There is no simple answer to why people get sick or why some people die prematurely, but why should we add to the problem if it’s not necessary?  John said in (3John 1:2 Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers).  Sickness is not from God.  Scripture tells us in  (Joh 10:10, “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy.  I have come that they may have life and that they may have it more abundantly).
What if we could take a supernatural preventive medicine that would limit or eliminate the need for miraculous healing in the believers?  For example, I would rather walk in health and blessings than need the miracle of being raised from the dead even though it’s a great miracle, walking in blessings and favor is a greater miracle.  I heard testimony about another pastor’s mother approaching 100 years old.  She was asked what her secret was to her long healthy life.  She attributed the communion meal as the secret to her health, saying she took it daily.
As I said in the previous post, there is nothing special about the bread and wine alone, but mix it with your faith, and it becomes the body and blood of Christ, “the meal that heals.” This is true, but the miracle is not in the bread and wine.  I was trying to understand why Christians take communion and believe their sins are forgiven but can’t believe they’re healed.  One day on the way home, the Holy Spirit spoke to me and said, “Son, the miracle is not in the bread and the wine; the miracle is in the remembrance.
As miraculous yet simple as this is, it’s not to be taken lightly.  The same Bible that says the Blood of Jesus is our atonement for sin says (1Co 11:29 For he who eats and drinks, eats and drinks judgment to himself if he does not judge the body rightly.  30, For this reason, many among you are weak and sick, and a number sleep ).  The word sleep there means to die.  If you believe in certain verses of the Bible, you must believe in all of them.  1Co 11:29,30 is no joke.  Before you take communion, make sure you have accepted Jesus as your savior and repented of your sin.  Ask for forgiveness of your sin and give thanks for the Body and Blood of Christ.  With that, take communion in faith and with a grateful heart.  Remember what He did for you 2000 years ago because it is truly a miraculous meal that can keep your body in perfect health.
