Shut that Hole in Your Face!
The power of life and death are in the tongue (Pr 18:21). If you had a complete understanding of what that meant, you would, without a doubt, be a person of few words. The reality is that our words determine our future. James puts it best in (Jas 3:6, And the tongue is a fire, the very world of iniquity; the tongue is set among our members as that which defiles the entire body, and sets on fire the course of our life, and is set on fire by hell). Words are more powerful than any weapon on Earth. They can bring healing or destruction. Once you’ve said it, you can’t take it back. Mt 12:36 But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. Your words even have the power to destroy God’s will for your life. In the 1st chapter of Luke, Zacharias is visited by the angel Gabriel who tells him that his wife will have a son. He responded with doubt, saying they were too old to have children. Gabriel responded in (Lk 1:20, “But behold, you will be mute and not able to speak until the day these things take place, because you did not believe my words which will be fulfilled in their own time”). I’ve read commentaries that say it was strictly a punishment, but Gabriel shut his mouth because speaking doubt and unbelief could have hindered the fulfillment of prophecy. He was mute until John was born and named on the 8th day. Be conscious of the things you say. Are you speaking life or death over your family, work, health, and future? Are you speaking the will of God or doubt and unbelief? The old saying, “Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me,” was one of the biggest lies in history. Bless your children instead of cursing them. Bless your spouse instead of telling them what they are not or don’t do. Bless your home and speak the Word of God over your family. If nothing else, start by saying “I can” instead of “I can’t.” Mark 9:23 All things are possible to him who believes.
Be blessed and be BOLD,
