Balance
There is a saying, “You are so Heavenly minded that you are no earthly good.” But you can be so earthly-minded that you’re no Heavenly good. (Romans 8:6 For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace NKJV) There has to be a balance. Just like anything else in life, there is a time and a place for everything. Unfortunately, we usually figure this balance out only by trial and error. There are scriptures to support both sides of the scale. Heavenly minded; (Col 3:2 Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on earth). Earthly minded; (1Th 4:11 and to make it your ambition to lead a quiet life and attend to your own business and work with your hands, just as we commanded you). There are many other scriptures to support both sides, but the responsibility still falls back on us. Even in the middle of a revival, things still have to be done.
Good news for all of the servers and laborers of the world; you are in good company. (Php 2:7 but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men). Jesus humbled himself and washed the feet of the disciples, a necessary task at the time. The presence of God is even in the most monotonous functions. God is in every detail. (1Pe 4:11 Whoever speaks is to do so as one who is speaking the utterances of God; whoever serves is to do so as one who is serving by the strength which God supplies; so that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to Who belongs the glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.) We are the salt of the earth and an example for others to follow. Get your hands dirty. Be the best employee. Always be on time and do what you say. Whatever job you have, do your job as though you are serving the Lord. Whether you are a student, employee, employer, man, woman, or child, introduce Jesus by the example of character, integrity, and work ethic. There is a balance in life, and we are responsible for figuring it out. Just make sure that whatever you are doing, do it by the Spirit and for the Glory of God. Ro 8:14 For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.
Be blessed and be BOLD,
