The Resurrection
Today, Easter Sunday, is when the Church recognizes the resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ. The resurrection is the single most significant event in the history of man. This one event makes us Christians and gives us eternal life. Without the resurrection, the scriptures and generations of faith would simply be religion, useless and vain. Jesus is the firstborn of the dead (Rm 6:4 just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life). Sadly enough, we have allowed the world to take the focus off the resurrection and covered it with the Easter bunny and colored eggs, just like we have with Santa Claus at Christmas time. Neither of which has anything to do with the Lord Jesus. It’s time to return to a pure relationship and a pure place of worship, but where does it start? How do we, as a church, change decades of ritualistic traditions? (Mr 7:13 “making the word of God of no effect through your tradition which you have handed down). The ways of the world will sicken you the closer you get to God and the truth. I’m not “holier than thou” trying to pretend to be some puritan that believes in seclusion but James 4:4 says a friend of the world is an enemy of God. We must not separate ourselves but rather show the world our faith. How can you be the salt of the earth if you lock yourself away from social contact? Show them the power of God and introduce them to the Truth. When you’ve experienced His love and encountered the living Jesus, then nothing else matters. Nothing is more important than seeing His will fulfilled on earth. Just because your dad, your granddad, and your great-granddad did it doesn’t mean it is correct. God is looking for people to worship Him in spirit and in truth (Jn 4:24). Exalt the Son of God. Share with your family and friends the importance of the resurrection and what it means to you. Make an effort to start a new tradition and activities that glorify the Father rather than mock Him. Take the time to thank Him. What if God told you that the only way to save a lost and dying world was to give up your only son to be humiliated, abused, and tortured to death? Would you do it? He did.
Be blessed and be BOLD,
Pastor Charlie
