No Doubt!
(Jas 1:6 But he must ask in faith without any doubting, for the one who doubts is like the surf of the sea, driven and tossed by the wind. 7 For that man ought not to expect that he will receive anything from the Lord, 8 being a adouble-minded man, unstable in all his ways. NASB). The first step in overcoming doubt is to understand God’s will. God’s will is His Word. (Lu 5:13 And He stretched out His hand and touched him, saying, “I am willing; be cleansed.” And immediately, the leprosy left him.) The phrase “if God is willing” is dropped casually too often. It’s one thing to pray according to the Word of God and say, “Your will be done and not my own,” but it’s entirely different to say with doubt in your voice, “If God is willing.” We say that knowing in the back of our minds that God is not going to answer our faithless prayer. Some wounds are self-inflicted. You may not know or realize it, but your words are hurting you. (Mt 12:34 For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. NKJV) If doubt lives in your heart, then doubt will come out of your mouth. (Pr 18:21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue, NASB) The truth in our hearts will surface if we dig deep enough. Most people don’t want to know the truth about themselves because they wouldn’t be able to justify their sins. I love David’s prayer in (Ps 139:23 Search me, O God, and know my heart; Try me and know my anxious thoughts; 24 And see if there be any hurtful way in me, And lead me in an everlasting way). Understanding God’s will is not the most simple task, but that’s why we have the Holy Spirit and His Word. The truth is God is willing. He wants you to be saved, live holy, live in health, and be prosperous. He wants you to bear much fruit. That’s how He is glorified on the earth. Think about what you are saying and why. Do you want God’s will? His will comes with sacrifice and reward. It’s the sacrifice part that’s difficult. Remember, it’s not “if You’re willing”; it’s “Your will be done.”
