Check Up from the Neck Up

Check up from the Neck up

We all like to think we are ok, but most of us still carry baggage we should have dealt with years ago.  Baggage like offenses, bitterness, unforgiveness, shame, and failures that we have either done to ourselves or by someone else.  Realizing that the pain is still there is the challenging part.  It’s time for a check-up from the neck up.   The things that happen to us in life impact our personalities, but it doesn’t define who we are.  Over the years, you forget about what happened or bury it deep in your sub-conscience.  (Ro 8:1 ¶ There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus).  We all have done horrible things in the past, but when you are forgiven, those offenses are gone forever (Heb 10:17 And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more).  God has forgiven you; now it’s time to forgive yourself (2Co 5:17 Therefore, if any man is in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things become new).
There is liberty in forgiveness.  When someone hurts you knowingly or unknowingly, the offender has long forgotten about it and gone on with their selfish life.  When you choose not to forgive and carry it around, you are only hurting yourself.  Forgiveness is for YOU.  Mt 6:14 “For if you forgive others for their transgressions, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.  The pain of a loss or tragedy is a heavy burden to carry, and it will keep you from reaching the fullness of all that God has for you.  Take all of your offenses, hurt, and pain to the cross.  Leave it at the feet of Jesus, and walk away (1Pe 5:7 casting all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you).  It’s time for a fresh start.  Don’t let your past destroy your future.

Be blessed and be BOLD,
Pastor Charlie
